Health Tip: Eat Enough Calories

Kelly's Health feels that it is important to provide individuals with health tips that will help them live a healthier life. The importance of eating enough calories daily has been mentioned briefly. Now is the time to explore why eating enough calories everyday is essential to your health. However, keep in mind that health tips will not work for everyone, but they are meant to be beneficial.

Not eating enough calories...

Our bodies need plenty of energy in order to be healthy and work properly. Energy is most often achieved by ingesting calories from food. Our bodies ultimately turn calories into energy. Without calories we would starve.

However, our bodies are extremely intelligent and versatile. But it is still important to keep your health in mind at all times. If you do not get enough calories on a daily basis your body will store fat and energy rather than allow your body to starve.

For instance, if you do not eat for a period of 24 hours and then eat a good size meal, your body will take the calories from that meal and store it. Ultimately, those calories are stored as fat, which means you will gain weight rather than lose it when you do not eat. While many individuals feel that the only way to lose weight is to starve themselves that is not the case at all.

Ask your physician about how many calories you should be eating a day. Once your body is comfortable with your eating habits, it will turn those calories into energy instead of fat. Keep this health tip in mind for a healthier lifestyle.

Healthy Eating Tips

When you live a healthy life, it also includes a healthy diet. Despite what businesses try to tell you, there is no such thing as a magic pill or diet that you will make you thin overnight. However, there is hope because eating healthy is more delicious than ever.

Health is certainly an important factor in many individuals' lives. After all, those that take care of their body feel better and live longer.

Take a few tips from Kelly's Health on eating better...

Eat enough calories!
-You more than likely have heard that eating too many calories is bad. However, not that many people know that not eating enough calories is just as bad. When your body lacks the calories that it needs, your body and organs cannot properly function. You should eat the recommended number of calories recommended by your physician based on you and your lifestyle.

Watch the portions!
-Most people forget how important moderation is when it comes to food. People can eat just about anything that they wish, including three slices of chocolate cake. That is not portion control. Eating everything in moderation is the way to a healthier diet and life.

Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes!
-These foods are considered complex carbohydrates, which mean your body receives a better response from ingesting these complex foods; they are low in fat, usually cholesterol free, and contain lots of fiber.

Eliminate soda!
-Did you know that if you drink a 12oz soda a day you will gain 16 pounds? That does not even include what it does to your organs. Many types of soda can be used as a cleaner or clog remover. Instead of soda, drink water or flavored water. Your body will certainly thank you.

Health Tips for Kids

Most individuals live in a world where "right" and "wrong" is everywhere when it comes to living your life. You hear what food to eat and avoid, what products are good and bad for the environment and so forth. There are many ways in which you can live a healthy life and not all of them are for everyone. It is indeed great to try to be a healthy as possible; when it comes to your children, you will want to ensure they have a healthy start to life.

Kelly's Health is here to provide you with a few health tips to ensure that your kids are healthy...

Don't forget the teeth!
-Brushing your teeth at least one a day is an essential part of being healthy. You should brush your children's teeth young and teach them how to brush their teeth properly. You should visit your dentist regularly so that he or she can ensure that your teeth are healthy and catch any potential problems early before they become a big problem. Plus, a family dentist can recommend supplements and provide you with tips so that you and your children can keep your teeth healthy.

In addition, almost every insurance company will cover children's teeth. While only some will cover to a certain extent on adult teeth, most all will cover children's teeth completely.

Moderation is essential!
-When it comes to food for both kids and adults, you need to understand that there is no such thing as good and bad food. If you want to live a healthy lifestyle you do not have to give up burgers, cookies or ice cream. However, you should ensure that you and your children eat a diverse selection of food. If you eat foods that are not so healthy, eat them in moderation.

Enjoy what you eat!
-There is a saying that you must chew your food twenty or so times before you swallow it so that you can thoroughly enjoy what you are eating. It is true. The longer you allow that food to be in your mouth, the more you will realize you enjoy your food. Stay aware of what you are eating and do not eat it in a hurry. You want to actually enjoy what you are eating.

Healthy Living: Recipes to Better Living

Choosing the best recipes for better, healthier living is not always easy. Not every recipe comes with nutritional information attached. This leaves you to finding the best in healthy foods for you and your family.

How do you find the best in health recipes to increase your quality and quantity of life?

Fried is not the best option when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. However, you can use some oils when cooking that will not only offer a healthy alternative, but taste delicious as well. Coconut oil is one such oil. However, as with anything always watch for the ingredients when going fried.

Going baked? Baked dishes are extremely popular, but never assume that because something is baked that it is good for you. Many casseroles can be high in fat, calories, carbs, and other such things that make it a no-no in any healthy lifestyle. When baking, check the ingredients!

Cheese is delicious. In moderation, cheese is an excellent source of calcium. However, many people go overboard with the cheese. Try using a low-fat cheese, and use in moderation. You will be shocked at how good food tastes when you use cheese.

One way you can help ensure you are eating a healthy diet and lifestyle is to watch the portions. The portions most people eat are enormously large. Even the sodas or colas we often drink are two servings. Try to eat portions that are small enough to be healthy and large enough to fill you up.

Healthy living is easy. However, you have to make a conscious effort to change how you eat and what you eat. Food is not bad; how we eat that food can be less than ideal. Chicken is a good meal, but fried chicken ruins a diet.

Basic recipes can help you eat a healthy lifestyle. Take a basic recipe and add your own special touches. You will discover cooking is a lot of fun, and living a healthy lifestyle benefits the whole family.

Choosing Healthy Face Makeup

When it comes to choosing the best for our lives, we often pick and choose what matters most. More people definitely choose high quality face makeup because the face is one location on our bodies where we want to look our best. Looking great ensures we feel even better!

Face makeup generally includes:
  • Shimmering powders,
  • Concealer sticks,
  • Foundation sticks,
  • Liquid makeup,
  • And much more!
Of course, you can find oodles of brands and types of face makeup. The trick is often searching for the one(s) that work best for your needs. There are numerous qualities you may want to search for when looking for healthy face makeup…

Hypoallergenic – This is a phrase that is used too loosely in many situations. The term “hypoallergenic” is not regulated by the FDA or any other organization. However, you will learn which companies really are going to mean what they say.

Vitamins – Having fame makeup with vitamins ensures that you have a healthy substance for your life. Some of the popular vitamins found in face makeup may be vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, lecithin, panthenol, and much more!

Water-base or Oil-base – Preferring a water-based foundation ensure you get a natural and healthy coverage that will nourish the skin rather than clog pores. Oil-based face makeup tends to be harsher than the natural look and feel of water-based face makeup.

Vitamins nourish the face from the outside and works its way in. You will definitely appreciate all the exceptional pluses associated with Kelly’s Health manufacturer of the week: Aira Cosmetics!

Health Tips for College Students

College can be detrimental to your health! Students often never have enough hours in the day to do everything that needs to be done. This often translates to poor eating habits coupled with less exercise, sleep deprivation, and oodles of stress. All these combined makes for a poor lifestyle where your health is comprised.

Campus life can be turned healthy with a little work. You do not have to start all at once, but slowly integrate a few ideas into your lifestyle. You can stay healthy and get a degree!

What are a few health tips for college students that can be incorporated easily and affordably?

Sleep – The number one change any college student can make is to get enough sleep. Sleep should be at the top of any college student’s priority list. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Sleep 8 to 10 hours per night, and set this sleep time on a regular schedule. If you cannot get that much sleep at one time, try to schedule small naps during the day.

Eat sensibly – Avoid late night snacking and eating. In addition, ALWAYS eat breakfast. A bowl or cereal or even a small thing of yogurt can constitute a good breakfast. You need to eat enough calories per day as well. Too few calories is as unhealthy as too many calories. If you need help learning how to eat, you can find a counselor or nutritional expert.

Drink water – Drinking enough water is important. This does not mean drink things that have water! Drink bottled water if you are always on the go. Water is your fuel, and as a college student, you need all the fuel you can get.

When it comes to staying healthy, health tips for college students work with the student’s own assets to discover a lifestyle that will make college a dream come true.

Healthy Alternatives to Fast Food

You are absolutely starving. In the back seat, kids are fussy and hungry. Wouldn’t it be easy to just grab a cheeseburger and fries? While this fast food would be “fast”, it is not necessarily healthy. What you need is healthy alternatives to fast food.

Healthy alternatives to fast food can be had, but you will need to plan ahead. Fast food is fast AND easy; eating healthy can be fast AND easy.

Here are a few suggestions to keep things easy…

Keep a small cooler in the back seat. You will discover it is easier to pack carrots, celery, apples, and other healthy snacks. When temptation arises, grab something healthy.

Try a stick of gum. Believe it or not, a healthy alternative to fast food can be as easy as a stick of gum. There are some scrumptious sugar-free gums on the market today. One stick of gum can get you past temptation.

Go for the side salad. If you have to stop at the drive-through, order a side salad. Side salads are great because they are the basics without the calories or fat added via other main salads.

Eat before you leave. Try eating a snack or meal BEFORE you head out the door. You will discover that you are not as tempted by those shiny signs and greasy smells.

Go sugar-free. More and more candies and snack foods are turning to sugar-free goodies. While they may not necessarily taste the same as their sugary counterpart, sugar-free snacking can be the way to go for you.

Ask for the nutrient handout. Most fast food establishments will have a nutrient handout readily available, but you do have to ask. Check out the calories, sugars, and fats. You will probably be surprised at what is healthier and what should be avoided.

Healthy Exercises for Pregnant Women

If you are pregnant or considering the possibilities of becoming pregnant, you will want to ensure your own health and the health of your unborn child(ren). While you may find exercising is essential to a health body, you will want to ensure safety comes first. Therefore, always discuss your exercise plan with your midwife or physician – just to be safe!

Here are a few suggestions when it comes to healthy exercises for pregnant women… in fact, these are great for anyone!

Shoulder Rotation

While sitting straight up in a chair, bring your shoulders forward slowly. Rotate your shoulders up towards your ears, and then put them in the natural position. Now, bring your shoulders back. Rotate your shoulders back slowly. Rotate your shoulders up towards your ears and then put them in the natural position. Complete this exercise a total for 4 times. Increase the repetition when comfortable.

Leg Shake

This can be completed one leg at a time or both legs at the same time. Try it with a single leg until you know how your body will respond. Sit in a comfortable chair with your back straight. Lift one leg up off of the floor until it is level with your knee. Hold for 5 seconds. Lower slowly, repeat with the other leg. Do 5 repetitions until you feel comfortable doing more.

Healthy Infant Exercises

Having healthy habits starts young, and more than ever, people are choosing to stimulate the senses (and the body) starting before birth. There are healthy infant exercises that can increase learning, muscle development, and imagination. Of course, you will want to always supervise your infants while playing or exercising to ensure safety.

What are a few of those healthy infant exercises?

Start with a mat… you can actually easily make a small mat that is divided into 6 different and equal section. Think of this like a quilt! Each of the sections should be a different texture to offer a copious number of textiles allowing your infant to explore his or her world. These can be easily washed as well making them a wonderful and inexpensive way to reach your infant.

Add in a pillow roll… One of our favorites has to be a simple pillow roll. Sure, you can make these specifically for your infant, but any pillow roll will do. A pillow roll can allow your infant to exercise and gets lots of tummy time. This will allow your infant to build arm strength and learn to shirt body weight which is invaluable. To keep a favorite pillow roll clean, add a pillow roll cover!

Now have a ball… If you have ever seen a beach ball, you will understand this exercise. To start, you can use a beach ball, but it has to be made of a thick material to void popping and other injuries. Then help your infant by allowing them to lay on the ball. As they gain strength, they can push that ball around! This has to be supervised. Try to disinfect the ball, and allow there to be a padding between the body and the ball.

Healthy infant exercises can be as fun for the parent as the infant!

3 Easy Chair Exercises for Healthy Living

Sometimes, getting the exercise you need for a healthy life isn’t easy. But if you can sit in a chair, or you are bound to a chair, say, at work, you will find that there are a couple of super easy exercises that will increase your mobility as well as your health.

Leg lift. This one is easy! Just sit in your chair with your feet flat on the floor. Now simply lift your foot off the floor going straight up. Count to 3; place foot on the ground. Repeat 5 times. To change this and work other muscles, you can actually move the leg straight out…

Do what is comfortable! If you cannot do this 5 times, do it once. As your muscles get used to the activities, you will find that you can slowly increase the number of times you do each exercise. The object of the exercise is to feel better, not feel discomfort.

Arm stretch. Another easy one to get you started. Sit as straight as possible in your chair with your hands holding the arm rests. Now lift your arm slowly straight in front of you. If it helps, try pointing to something directly in front of you. Hold this pose for 5 seconds, if it is comfortable, and then release. Repeat 5 times if able.

Repeating 5 times is just a base number. If you can do more, do more; if you need to do less, do less. Remember, you will want to feel your muscles as you do these exercises. Be aware of what your muscles feel like.

Pelvic thrust. There are a few ways to perform this exercise. The simple way is to simply sit straight, and then gently thrust your pelvis forward and up. Your rear will not leave the seat. Thrust up; hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times as comfortable.

Another method is to actually use your arms as a prop and lift your rear off the chair. This is more tolerated by some individuals than other. Remember, do what is comfortable!

5 Healthy & Delicious Foods

Staying healthy is vital no doubt, but finding foods we love to eat can be tricky. When many people think of healthy living, they see a bland diet of eating cardboard. But the truth is that eating healthy is super easy (and delicious)!

Take a look at these great foods that are healthy and fit easily into a healthy or healthier lifestyle.

Sweet Potatoes

Mm, mm, good! Try making these for dinner. Mix in a little applesauce and you have the best mashed tators ever. These are loaded with vitamin C, carotenoids, fiber, and potassium. You will love these – guaranteed!

Crispbread

If you have never had crispbread such as Ry Krisp, Wasa, or Ryvita, you are in for a heck of a treat. These are fat free but absolutely delicious. These are extremely crunchy! I love eating those little triangle fat free cheese with a Wasa cracker. Absolutely divine and filled with good stuff.

Health Tips for Kids

Often, we live in a world bogged down by the “goods” and the “bads” of how we live, what we eat, and what we avoid. Staying healthy starts young, but it is never too late to start living like a youngster again. Health tips for kids is a surefire way to ensure your children have a good, healthy start to life.

Do NOT Forget the Teeth

Brushing your teeth is an extremely important part of a healthy lifestyle. Start brushing the teeth young, and teach your children the right ways to brush their teeth. Be sure to visit a dentist regularly so he or she can keep an eye out for potential problem areas. In addition, a family dentist will be able to offer supplements (if needed) and instruct you and your child on appropriate ways to care for your teeth.

Another important note about dental care…. Almost all of the insurers cover children’s teeth. Even if they do not cover the full range of adult dental care, almost all insurers will cover children’s dental care…

Moderation is the Key

When it comes to health tips for kids AND adults, it is important to remember that there is no such thing as a “good” food or a “bad” food. You do not have to give up hamburgers, French fries, and cookies. But you should eat a diverse selection of foods which means do not make your daily diet consist of hamburgers, French fries, and cookies. If you do eat less-than-healthy foods, eat those foods in moderation and sparingly.

Enjoy What You Eat

As a child, I was taught to chew each bite twenty times before chewing. While I thought this was ridiculous, I must admit now that there is some merit to this thought. When we chew our foods, I mean really chew our foods, we are going to enjoy those foods more. Be aware of what you are eating, and enjoy each bite thoroughly.

3 Health Tips For Healthy Living

Nothing is more crucial to us as a people than living a healthy lifestyle. Living healthy makes sure than the life we do live is free of illnesses and diseases that could otherwise impede our daily living. Even if you live with a disease, you will find that following a healthy lifestyle can reduce the outbreaks, symptoms, and severity of the disease.

Kelly’s Health understands it is not always easy living a healthy lifestyle. But with a few easy health tips, you will find that everything seems a bit better and livelier.

1 – Wash your hands… Even from a young age most people like feeling. As infants, we use our hands to explore the world, and as we age, we use our hands to manipulate that world. Washing your hands is a healthy habit that should be practiced many times during the day to stop the spread of many germs. Many people wash with an anti-bacterial soap, but for me, a good, old-fashioned soap works just fine. Just get washing!

2 – Know the numbers… Many people do not know the numbers that could save their life. Have your blood pressure checked regularly. Many pharmacies and other locations have blood pressure monitors that are free to use. In addition, you can purchase blood pressure monitors for almost nothing. Knowing your blood pressure is essential. Talk to your doctor today.

3 – Accessorize… If you have a medical condition, you should have a bracelet or necklace that identifies those conditions. Accidents do happen. When you are prepared, you will discover that you have a better chance of surviving when the medical staff knows your medical conditions from the start.

Health tips can ensure you live a healthier, happier, and longer life. Wash your hands, know the numbers, and accessorizing will ensure that your life is just that much better.

Natural supplements including essential oils have gained in popularity in recent days. This is a good step forward while we adopt some of the ways of ancient peoples of yesteryear. However, there are always precautions you should take before using supplements and essential oils.

Before using any form of supplement while pregnant, it is best to consult your physician. Natural childbirth is more popular than ever, and many physicians are updated on the latest in acceptable ingredients to be fond in the supplements or essential oils you are considering using.

Choosing natural is a good first step in deciding that you are interested in a healthy child and a healthy pregnancy. Taking the vitamins you are given is important, and insuring you know what is in those vitamins is just as important.

When you go to your physician Kelly’s Health suggests you have a list of the supplements and essential oils you are interested in. With that list, be sure you have an ingredient list as well. This will allow your physician to approve or disapprove of the ingredients.

Pregnancy is a glorious time in any life. Be sure you take the necessary steps to insure a safe and healthy pregnancy for both you and your unborn child.
