Ear Infections

Otitis Media with Effusion is generally not the term you hear when you have an ear infection, but it is the term for ear infection. Ear infections are often considered natural and unavoidable occurrences in children and infants. But these ear aches are not pleasant. They cause discomfort among a variety of unwanted and unpleasant infections. Ear infections do not have to be treated with antibiotics as they normally are. There are other ways.

About 97% of the time, antibiotics do not have to be used to treat ear infections. Overusing antibiotics can actually reduce your body's natural resistance to bacteria. Therefore, you can avoid antibiotics and it is good if you do.

Unfortunately, ear aches are going to be their worst when you are sleeping at night or waking up in the morning because of your lying position. More often than not, ear infections are due to a water build-up in your middle ear. Basically, this means that when your child changes their sleeping position at night, they are disturbing the water in their ear.

How can you avoid and/or treat ear infections?

First, you must know the severity of the ear infection. It is a good rule of thumb that if you do not know you should consult a doctor; however, do not automatically assume that because your child is pulling or tugging at their ear that they have an infection. If your child does have a fever, your child should see a doctor as soon as possible.

This is difficult to resist, but do not stick anything in the ear. This includes everything, even cotton swabs. While you may believe you are making things better, this is not the case!

If you choose to use an ear rinse, ensure you ask your doctor how to use it properly

Lastly, ensure you have Kopec Naturals Kids Ear Relief on hand for those emergencies. Kelly's Health swears by this stuff. Your child will be better in no time.

Treating and Preventing Ear Infections

Otitis Media with Effusion is another term for ear infection. Often considered a natural and inevitable occurrence in infants and child, ear infections cause discomfort and other unpleasant symptoms. However, you do not have to treat most ear infection with antibiotics, which happens to be a common practice.

Treating ear infections with antibiotics is not necessary in up to 97% of cases. Overuse of antibiotics can reduce your natural resistance to many bacteria. Therefore, if you can avoid antibiotics, avoid them!

Ear infections are going to cause more discomfort at night or directly upon rising from a laying position. Most ear infections are caused by water buildup in the middle ear. This means that when your child changes positions, your child is disturbing that water level within the ear.

So how can you avoid and/or treat ear infections?

First, if you do not know the severity of the ear infection, you should always err on the side of caution and take your child to his or her doctor or caregiver. However, just because your child tugs at his or her ear does not mean your child has an infection. If your child has a fever, visit your doctor immediately.

Never stick anything in the ear. This means anything. No bobby pins, paper, or even cotton swabs. While you may be thinking that you are cleaning the ear, you are actually pushing that waxy buildup further into the ear – not a good thing!

If you use an ear rinse, be sure you are instructed by your physician on how to use that ear rinse.

Keep ears warm in the winter with a cap or little ear muffs – how cute!

Finally, stock up on Kids Ear Relief by Kopec Naturals for those unexpected emergencies!
