Skincare Tips for Teens
When teenagers hit puberty, this often causes havoc on their system. Taking care of the skin properly during this time during a teen's life is of the utmost importance. Often times, teens face acne, oily skin, dry skin, and many other skin problems all at the same time. This often makes it difficult to find the skincare system that works for you. But you do not have to worry. There are several skincare tips to keep in mind to keep your skin healthy, clean, and clear.
Our skin naturally creates an oil called "sebum." When we hit the years of puberty, sebum goes into overdrive. Unfortunately, this natural oil can lead to skin irritation when it clogs our pores. It also creates that gross oily skin and acne. You cannot stop the natural production of sebum, but there are ways in which you can alleviate and eliminate acne.
You need to wash your face twice a day. Do this in the morning when you wake up and before you go to bed. When you wash your face, you are supposed to do it gently, not scrub off any skin off your face. If you do this, you will only cause more problems. Be very gentle and wash your face in a circular motion with your hands. If you have skin with blemishes or acne, you will want to wash your face with a mild, but gentle cleanser that is designed for your face. Regular body soap will not always get the job done.
When you get a blemish, resist the urge to pop them! This is difficult to do, but you must leave your blemishes alone. You can often cause worse irritation and make the infection spread. Most pimples will go away on their own; but even if they do not, there are ways to get rid of them without popping them.
If you like to wear makeup, ensure you remove all of it nightly. When you look for makeup, look for makeup that will not clog pores, is certified organic and natural, and nonacnegenic or nonecomegenic. Replace all makeup every six months as well; however, if you makeup begins to look funny or smell funny before that toss it in the trash.
