Healthcare Equipment: Clean, Safe, Secure

Choosing the right healthcare equipment for your needs is an important part of your establishment or facility. Regardless of the type of healthcare equipment you purchase, keeping it in tiptop shape will me a safer and more secure tool.

Healthcare equipment can be everything or anything from a stethoscope to an exercise machine used for physical therapy. Keeping those tools clean will be more sanitary as well as safer for everyone involved from the patient to the healthcare professional.

There will be specific methods for cleaning the healthcare equipment purchased depending on the manufacturer’s directions. Generally, these instructions can be located in the packing material or on a website. Regardless of how you get the instructions, you will find that it is necessary to find out how to properly maintain the tool or devise.

Why keep healthcare equipment sanitized and clean?

Germs and bacteria can spread if not sanitized after each use. There are many parts of the tools that are porous meaning they will retain the germs, bacterium, and other such things. Simply wiping down with a solution of bleach and water after each use will insure you are not spreading unnecessary germs.

Dust can gather on tools or devises not utilized on a regular basis. The heavier the machinery, the more apt it is to gather dust. Dust can get into the mechanisms of the tools causing friction or worse. It is vital that you clean the dust off your machinery regardless of the size on a regular basis to avoid buildup that can prove detrimental.

Some machinery or other types of healthcare equipment will tend to need oiled and/or greased on a regular basis. This will insure less friction as well as insure the healthcare equipment is in proper working order when it is needed each time.
