Alternative Headache Remedies

Over 45 million individuals suffer from headaches annually within the United States. With so many headache sufferers, is it any surprise that almost half of those people have tried alternative headache remedies?

Perhaps the most common pair of headache remedies is massage and acupuncture. However, many people find that getting a massage at the first sign of a headache can get pricey just as acupuncture. The best solution is often to add dietary supplements such as riboflavin or feverfew. However, even more people are turning to simple herbal remedies to help in their battle for headache relief.

Looking for a common headache remedy?

Melatonin – If you have ever had difficulties sleeping and just love those alternative therapies, chances are pretty good you have heard of melatonin. Melatonin has been a sleep aid for a long time, and now, you can use melatonin to possibly stop even the worst of headaches by reducing the duration and intensity.

Butterbur – Butterbur is actually great for migraine sufferers. However, you should carefully investigate any butterbur formulation looking for pyrrolizidine alkaloids known to cause liver toxicity. Ick! However, for the headache sufferer whom finds that perfect formulation, you will find the pain is less intense.

Ginger – If you are a woman, and even some men know this, but ginger is great for morning sickness. But now, ginger is also being used to help headache sufferers. Ginger is a nation anti-inflammatory and antihistamine. Add this to your diet and you will relieve both headaches AND migraines.

Fish Oil – These days, omega-3 fatty acids and other fish oils tend to be extremely popular. But the truth is that fish oil can aid in stabilizing membranes of your nerve cells which will allow you to stop those nasty headaches before they even start.

Aromatherapy Essentials

If you are new to aromatherapy or an old pro, you are aware that aromatherapy is not as easy as having great smells and aromas surrounding you. Having the best essential oils is vital, and when you have the highest quality, you will reap the full benefits of the essential oils you purchase.

Unfortunately, many companies are more interested in making a quick sale. Instead of quality, some of those company go for “cheap”. So yes, maybe you will save a few dollars, but you are not receiving many, or any in some cases, of the benefits associated with the aromatherapy in question.

Basil – Often considered aromatherapy for men, basil is a powerful, licorice-like essential oil. Used for colds, bronchitis, coughs, insect bites, as an insect repellent, sinusitis, rheumatism, exhaustion, flatulence, gout, flu, and more, basil is a powerful, sweet herb that can benefit anyone’s life – regardless of gender. Getting basil in your diet is easy… simply add basil to your dishes or meals!

Sandalwood – Few people dislike the fragrance of sandalwood. This is a wonderfully delicate aroma combining both a floral aroma and a woodsy aroma. Perfect for treating dry skin, depression, bronchitis, chapped skin, scars, stress, sensitive skin, stretch marks, laryngitis, oily skin, and more, you will find that sandalwood enhances life while smelling absolutely wonderful. Try adding sandalwood essential oil to your lotion for a wonderful lotion that will benefit your life.

Cinnamon – Few people do not recognize this unique aroma. Cinnamon is used for baking, cleaners, and other applications, but cinnamon has actually had a rich part of our history. Many people do not realize cinnamon is more than just a spicy smell. For instance, cinnamon can treat lice, flatulence, constipation, low blood pressure, high blood sugar, stress, and much more.

Aromatherapy essentials are a vital part of our daily life. So they next time you eat a favorite dish, maybe you are actually getting more than you realized.

Following a Healthy Eating Plan

Living a full, healthy life starts with a well-balanced meal plan that includes regular exercise. Reports are always changing on what is healthy these days, but generally speaking, you will know when you are living a healthy lifestyle. But it is vital that you consult with a physician to explore conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and/or cholesterol that can be “silent” killers.

Staying healthy is easy! Take a look at a few of these easy to understand and follow tips…
  • Be physically active. For at least 30 minutes each day.
  • Eat a diet with lots of fruits and vegetables.
  • Avoid partially hydrogenated vegetable oils.
  • Avoid or cutback on foods and beverages with added (or natural) sugars.
  • Eat a diet high in fiber.
  • Try fresh fish at least twice a week.
  • Eat less junk food.
  • Avoid exposure and use of tobacco products, drugs, and/or alcohol.
  • If you do drink, drink in moderation.
  • Make your own meals, and avoid boxed dinners.
  • Learn what the food label means to you and your family.
  • Avoid MSG.
  • Eat out less.
  • Chew your food longer.
Following a healthy lifestyle does not have to mean drastic changes in your current lifestyle. Chances are pretty good the habits you have now are nothing new and have taken a lifetime to form. Changes will not happen overnight either physically or mentally, but that does not mean changes are not possible.

“You cannot teach an old dog new tricks.”

Truth be told, anyone can learn to live a healthier lifestyle. The benefits are evident in how you feel, the amount of energy you have, and the smile on your face. Kelly’s Health is here with products and advice to ensure you can live the healthier life you have always imagined.

Enjoying life has never been easier!

Keeping Makeup Fresh

Makeup can be quite an investment of both time and money. Knowing how to keep makeup fresh will ensure you get the most out of that particular investment saving you further time and money. But since all cosmetics are different, you may be wondering how to keep all of those cosmetics fresh without a lot of hassles.

Whether you are storing lipstick or facial cream, fresh cosmetics is easy. While you may need to invest a bit of money on organization equipment, you will find that the investment quickly pays for itself.

Lip stick, lip liner, eye liner, etc, can be stored in the refrigerator in its own basket or container. When stored in the refrigerator, you will find you extend the life of the cosmetics. However, this is not appropriate for all cosmetics as it can add too much moisture and humidity to the cosmetics in question.

Store cosmetics in their own container or basket. Many containers or baskets will have their own compartments. I find it easier to label the compartments with a sticker, but over time, you will automatically know where to reach for the perfect brushes or cosmetics.

Storing cosmetics in the bathroom is not the best environment. A bathroom is humid and has a lot of moisture which can be hazardous to not only your cosmetics but you as well. Store your cosmetics in a shelf where you can easily get them when it is time to prepare for the day.

Remember, storing your cosmetics or makeup in an appropriate environment is not only important to the cosmetics or makeup. Given poor environmental conditions, you will find that your cosmetics or makeup will become a hazard to your health as well injuring or harming your body.

Kelly’s Health wants you to stay healthy from the inside out!

Healthy Living 101

Choosing to live a healthy life can be quite the undertaking. At first, healthy living may not feel comfortable because of how unfamiliar it is, but once you make healthy living a habit, you will find you feel better, have more energy, and appreciate life just a little bit more.

When it comes to healthy living, you will find that there are many things to consider. Every aspect of life can be included with healthy living, but if you start healthy living at an early age, you will find that healthy living is a lifelong habit that is natural and automatic rather than forced.

Babies’ health can be a great place to start. By following a baby’s health, we are able to better incorporate healthy living into our own lives. Babies’ have special needs that make it easy to follow a healthier lifestyle as well.

Children’s health is important too. Children are entering the school where a lot of viruses, illnesses, and organisms can be picked up. But with healthy living habits on your side, you will find that staying “well” is extremely easy. In addition, those early habits often follow us throughout our life.

Of course, teen’s health is a transition period between childhood and adulthood. With the body in constant flux, it is important to cement in those good, healthy living habits. Whether it is getting exercise or eating a balanced meal, you may find that asking your teen for assistance or advice when it comes to healthy living will get the teen involved allowing him or her to make his or her own decisions later in life.

As adults, there is men’s health and women’s health. Our bodies are different, and our needs are different as well. By knowing what your body needs according to your specific body, you will discover healthy living allows you to live life to its fullest.

Vitamins for Healthy Hair

When it comes to healthy hair, you will need more than shampoo. Vitamins are an important part of your hair, and adding a few vitamins to your diet whether in supplemental form or natural food form will help you reach and maintain a health head of hair.

Kelly’s Health wants to help you get that perfect head of hair. But what vitamins should you be using to maximize your hair’s potential? Take a look at these vitamins and ideas on how you too can have that luscious, perfect head of hair you have always dreamed about.

Vitamin C – Vitamin C seems to be a popular vitamin for just about everything. When it comes to hair care, you will find that Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps you maintain the state of your hair. You should take at least 60mg per day, but you will find that Vitamin C in a natural form tastes delicious. Foods such as dark green vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes, citrus fruits, kiwi, and pineapple are great sources of Vitamin C.

Vitamin A – You need healthy sebum in and around your scalp, and Vitamin A is a superb way to ensure you get just that. This powerful antioxidant is great, but take over 25,000 IU daily and you may have toxic results. You should take about 5,000 IU per day, but you will find that Vitamin A is easy to get by drinking milk, eating eggs or cheese, or even taking fish oil supplements.

Biotin – Biotin is a powerful part of your hair care and much more. Did you know biotin can help prevent graying hair or even hair loss? By producing the much needed keratin, biotin has proven an exceptional hair care supplement. You can easily get 150-300 mcg by consuming whole grains, rice, milk, liver, or even egg yolks.

Healthy Living with Essential Oils

Essential oils or aromatherapy have become a mainstay of our culture. But essential oils and aromatherapy have been utilized for centuries in the healing process. The benefits are definitely evident, and often, those same benefits are controversial. When it comes to using essential oils or aromatherapy in your own life, it is important to know the facts.

Echinacea or purple coneflower has been used for many years as an immune booster allowing people to stave off colds. In fact, research at the University of Connecticut has shown Echinacea shortens the duration of the common cold by about 1.3 days. And when you have a cold, every day counts.

Often called tea tree oil, melaleuca oil is an extremely strong essential oil with a strong camphoraceous aroma. While it may not be used solely for its aroma, tea tree oil is a wonderfully strong antiseptic, antifungal and much more. The popularity of tea tree oil has definitely increased in recent years with more people turning to tea tree oil for everything from a cat scratch to burns.

One of the more popular types of flowers used in aromatherapy has to be lavender. Lavender is useful for a variety of purposes ranging from cleaning to disinfecting. But what makes lavender so special is its calming effect. Used in many cultures, lavender is a wonderful addition to any home or office needing a mellow essential oil to get through the days.

When it comes to healthy living, you will find aromatherapy and essential oils are the key to a wonderfully enriched life. Whether you choose Echinacea, tea tree oil, lavender, or another favorite, Kelly’s Health is here to answer your questions for a healthy, happy life. We are just a click away, and we love your questions and suggestions. Keep ‘em coming!

Cosmetic Tips: Mascara

If you have ever seen a model’s eyelashes, you realize how amazing your whole body will look with the right mascara. But it is not only important to find the perfect mascara, but it is important to know how to apply that mascara to perfection.

Cosmetics cover a wide array of applications covering just about the whole body. But for mascara, you will generally find that the eyelashes are the main target. Here are a few tips to ensure you have amazing eyelashes.

Replace that mascara on a regular basis such as every 3 months. With old mascara, you will have a dry, clumpy look that is not very appealing. You can easily find a great brand that is affordable too! One idea is to always switch mascaras with the changing of the season.

With a hand mirror, apply your mascara while holding the hand mirror at the end of your nose. You will find you get the entire lash without the missing or smudging. Ick!

Pull the mascara brush slowly through the lash wiggling back and forth. This will give you amazing length and added volume. The added volume does not take more than one GOOD stroke. With practice, you will find it is easy to apply your mascara perfectly each time.

Play with colors. Many people stick to black or a bright color such as blue. Just as different eye shadows look different on different people, you will find different mascaras work for different people too! Explore the color ranges to find which is perfect for your lifestyle and body type.

Clean the brush! Many people are conflicted on cleaning the mascara brush, but about once a week, a good rinsing under hot water will give a good brush a needed cleaning. Mascara can clump on the brush making a mess of your eyes and your clothes.

3 Easy Chair Exercises for Healthy Living

Sometimes, getting the exercise you need for a healthy life isn’t easy. But if you can sit in a chair, or you are bound to a chair, say, at work, you will find that there are a couple of super easy exercises that will increase your mobility as well as your health.

Leg lift. This one is easy! Just sit in your chair with your feet flat on the floor. Now simply lift your foot off the floor going straight up. Count to 3; place foot on the ground. Repeat 5 times. To change this and work other muscles, you can actually move the leg straight out…

Do what is comfortable! If you cannot do this 5 times, do it once. As your muscles get used to the activities, you will find that you can slowly increase the number of times you do each exercise. The object of the exercise is to feel better, not feel discomfort.

Arm stretch. Another easy one to get you started. Sit as straight as possible in your chair with your hands holding the arm rests. Now lift your arm slowly straight in front of you. If it helps, try pointing to something directly in front of you. Hold this pose for 5 seconds, if it is comfortable, and then release. Repeat 5 times if able.

Repeating 5 times is just a base number. If you can do more, do more; if you need to do less, do less. Remember, you will want to feel your muscles as you do these exercises. Be aware of what your muscles feel like.

Pelvic thrust. There are a few ways to perform this exercise. The simple way is to simply sit straight, and then gently thrust your pelvis forward and up. Your rear will not leave the seat. Thrust up; hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 5 times as comfortable.

Another method is to actually use your arms as a prop and lift your rear off the chair. This is more tolerated by some individuals than other. Remember, do what is comfortable!

5 Healthy & Delicious Foods

Staying healthy is vital no doubt, but finding foods we love to eat can be tricky. When many people think of healthy living, they see a bland diet of eating cardboard. But the truth is that eating healthy is super easy (and delicious)!

Take a look at these great foods that are healthy and fit easily into a healthy or healthier lifestyle.

Sweet Potatoes

Mm, mm, good! Try making these for dinner. Mix in a little applesauce and you have the best mashed tators ever. These are loaded with vitamin C, carotenoids, fiber, and potassium. You will love these – guaranteed!

Crispbread

If you have never had crispbread such as Ry Krisp, Wasa, or Ryvita, you are in for a heck of a treat. These are fat free but absolutely delicious. These are extremely crunchy! I love eating those little triangle fat free cheese with a Wasa cracker. Absolutely divine and filled with good stuff.

Wild Salmon

Grab the fishing pole, it is time to catch supper! Wild salmon is filled with oodles of omega-3 and a wonderful way to eat healthy without losing the wonderful taste. If it is wild, you will not have the PCB contaminants often found with the farmed critters.

Fat free or 1 % Milk

Milk is a great source of vitamins and calcium, but milk also has protein without the cholesterol. If you can find fortified soy milk, you will get the same benefits. Just try to stay away from whole milk.

10 Minute Brown Rice

White rice is not very nutritional, but brown rise is exceptional. Filled with a number of good minerals and vitamins, you will find that brown rice is a great way to supplement any meal. The instant rice is so easy to cook – and fast too!

Health Tips: Eating Too Few Calories

Monday I mentioned briefly the downside of eating too few calories. Today, I want to explore that concept in more detail. When it comes to health tips, it is important to remember that these are tips that prove beneficial to me and others, but not prove true for everyone…

Eating too few calories…

For years, I struggled with my weight. I always thought I was eating too much, and this thought was reinforced by the medical community. “To be healthy, eat less; move more!” While this may be the case in some instances, this is not always the truth.

Our bodies need energy. Energy is generally achieved through the intake of calories. Our body turns calories into energy for our muscles, mind, and so much more. Basically, without calories, we would starve to death.

But our bodies are extremely versatile and smart. You see, it figures, “Hey, I have an idea… rather than starve, I will store!”

Let me give you and example. Let’s say you do not eat for 24-hours. Your body starts to shutdown. Your digestive track will stop working. But you all of a sudden eat a solid meal, so guess what? Your body is going to store what is not needed for later use. While this seems a good idea, the end result is that our body stores this energy in the form of fat.

If you have trained your body for years to store excess calories, your body will gain in dimensions – generally not a wanted affect. But if you can train your body to trust your eating habits again, you will find that the calories are not going to be stored for future use.

Do you know how many calories are ideal for you?

Healthy Eating Tips

Living a health lifestyle always includes a healthy diet. There are no quick fixes or magic pills that will miraculously make you thin overnight. But there is hope, because a healthy diet is more delicious than ever. With the advances in medical science like they are today, healthy eating tips are more scrumptious than ever.

Eat enough calories…

Generally, you will hear about eating too many calories, and I am pretty sure most of us know that too much is a bad thing. But the truth is that not many people know that too few calories is just as bad. When you do not eat enough calories, your body and organs cannot function properly. Eat the daily recommended calories as determined by your physician based on gender, weight, height, physical activity and age.

Watch the portions…

People generally forget the importance of moderation. People can eat just about anything they want within reason, but having 3 slices of chocolate cake, though delicious, is NOT watching the portion size. Eat smaller portions for a healthy lifestyle regardless of the food you do eat. Too much of anything is not good.

Eat lots of vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes…

These foods are considered a complex carbohydrate. This means you will get a better bodily response from this type of food than others. These foods are also low in fat, generally free of cholesterol, and full of fiber. If you can, try to purchase organic and fresh produce from a local market such as a fruit stand.

Toss out soda…

Did you know that if you drink one 12 ounce can of soda a day, you will actually gain roughly 16 pounds? That is not even saying what it does to your organs. Did you know you can actually use many types of soda as a cleaner or a clog remover? And you want to drink this poison? Ick! Drink water or flavored water, and your body will thank you.

Healthy Snacks for Kids & Adults

Why is it that the foods we love are referred to as “bad” snacking choices? Why couldn’t carrots and celery taste more like chocolate cake? Why can’t chocolate cake be a good part of a rounded, healthy lifestyle? The truth is that when we want healthy snacks for kids and adults, we usually think green and/or grainy. But the truth is that there are healthy snacks for kids and adults that taste as delicious as they are healthy.

The trick is often that once we know it is healthier for us… we tend to turn up our nose. This is especially true of children! That means finding alternative healthy snacks for kids and adults that taste “naughty” while actually being a smart choice.

Here are a few of my favorite healthy snacks. Great for kids and adults alike!

Ants on a Log

Spread some all-natural peanut butter on a piece of celery. Top with a few raisins. If you have a finicky child or are not fond of raisins yourself, why not try gummy bears or a couple chocolate chips?

Happy Trail Mix

Making your own trail mix is a great idea. You will control the ingredients and additives! Plus, you will find that this is a lot easier to take on the go than other snacking solutions. Combine 1-cup of whole-grain cereal that has some size to it like Chex, mix in ¼ cup of a favorite unsalted nut such as walnut, pecan, or cashew, and add in ¼ cup of a favorite dried fruit such as raisins or cranberries.

Healthy Ice Pops

Freeze some fresh, unsweetened juice (100% juice NOT juice cocktail) in ice cube trays or ice pop molds. This is super yummy! You can serve the healthy ice pops from the ice pop molds immediately when ready, and make a slushy with a blender and the ice cube tray frozen juice treats.

Health Tips for Kids

Often, we live in a world bogged down by the “goods” and the “bads” of how we live, what we eat, and what we avoid. Staying healthy starts young, but it is never too late to start living like a youngster again. Health tips for kids is a surefire way to ensure your children have a good, healthy start to life.

Do NOT Forget the Teeth

Brushing your teeth is an extremely important part of a healthy lifestyle. Start brushing the teeth young, and teach your children the right ways to brush their teeth. Be sure to visit a dentist regularly so he or she can keep an eye out for potential problem areas. In addition, a family dentist will be able to offer supplements (if needed) and instruct you and your child on appropriate ways to care for your teeth.

Another important note about dental care…. Almost all of the insurers cover children’s teeth. Even if they do not cover the full range of adult dental care, almost all insurers will cover children’s dental care…

Moderation is the Key

When it comes to health tips for kids AND adults, it is important to remember that there is no such thing as a “good” food or a “bad” food. You do not have to give up hamburgers, French fries, and cookies. But you should eat a diverse selection of foods which means do not make your daily diet consist of hamburgers, French fries, and cookies. If you do eat less-than-healthy foods, eat those foods in moderation and sparingly.

Enjoy What You Eat

As a child, I was taught to chew each bite twenty times before chewing. While I thought this was ridiculous, I must admit now that there is some merit to this thought. When we chew our foods, I mean really chew our foods, we are going to enjoy those foods more. Be aware of what you are eating, and enjoy each bite thoroughly.

Aromatherapy & Alternative Therapies

More and more people are choosing to harness the power of alternative therapies in their regimen for a health, pain-free life. Whether adding to conventional medicine or going all out alternative, people are finding the middle ground fitting their needs and desires. Of course, no one way is completely correct for everyone. Yes, you will find your own preference based on a mix of personal experience and information.

Aromatherapy is an increasingly popular form of alternative therapy. By combining the power of our nose with pure herbs, a sense of well-being can occur in many people. But which aromatherapy is right for you and your needs?

Many people will choose a popular type such as lavender, rose, or orange. Other people will choose a popular blend of essences such as cinnamon and apple. The type you purchase will depend on your own preference.

Is one better than the other? Not necessarily!

How “good” aromatherapy works depends on the grade of essential oils used in the mixture. Using only the finest in pure essential oils is extremely important. Yes, oils can go rancid and that is one reason you will find that the finest of pure essential oils are contained within dark, glass bottles.

What is the best aromatherapy on the market today?

There are many essential oils popular with oodles of individuals across the globe. What is popular will depend a great deal on your location, religion, and culture. For me, vanilla anything is great, but having lavender around just in case of added stress is a wonderful idea.

Kelly’s Health provides you with an avenue for shopping for your favorite essential oils and mixtures utilized in aromatherapy. You will discover that you get more for less… and the customer service provides you with the assistance you need to get the product that is just right for you.

Body Energy & Essential Oils Therapy

Choosing the right essential oils therapy for your lifestyle is not too difficult these days thanks to the addition of the internet. You will discover a whole new world of possibilities simply by searching through a variety of search engines such as Google or Yahoo. But knowing what is right for you is going to go a long way in ensuring you get your money’s worth each time.

Many people believe in the energies located within every living creature. When our energies are low we are more susceptible to illness, disease, or even death; when our energies are high we feel better and live a healthier life.

A cup of coffee in the morning can lower your body energy. When you lower your body energy enough, you will find you feel poorly and can easily get sick. But knowing how to raise your energies will actually counteract the negative energies we face on a regular basis.

First, did you know that the human body has a measured energy of around 62-68 MHz when healthy? People with a common cold have an energy level around 58MHz. Simple changes in the body’s energy goes a long way.

Essential oil therapy either alone or included with meditation or prayer can raise your body energy. For instance, rose energy is the highest measured at around 320 MHz. Lavender, a popular essential oil, measures around 118 MHz.

Positive thoughts and negative thoughts also have an affect on the body energy….

Anointment is a common practice with many religions dating back centuries. Generally, anointment is combined with prayer and an essential oil. This anointment was actually raising the body’s energy leading to a pure mind and body capable of fighting illness and disease.

Body energy is a big part of our lives, and the right essential oils therapy can improve our mind and body.

A History of Essential Oils Therapy

Essential oils therapy, or aromatherapy, uses the aroma producing substance or oil of a variety of plants to fight illness and disease. These essential oils can be taken from the plant’s bark, stalks, leaves, rind, roots, or flowers depending a great deal on the type of essential oils therapy you are interested in.

These essential oils are pure when taken from the plant, and then added to a base or “carrier” substance – today it is popular to use a high quality oil. Other carriers used in the past have been alcohol or lotion. Once mixed, the essential oils can be massaged on, sprayed in the environment, placed in the bath, or even burned as a candle or incense.

Aromatherapy is nothing new. In fact, recent induction of essential oils therapy in our lives started back in the early 1900s. Working with our natural hormones, these essential oils stimulate our own nervous system via the nasal cavity.

This interaction has been shown to reduce blood pressure, pulse, depression, and other body functions which can alter our state of being. Of course, you will also find many aromatherapy methods claim to help with relieving pain.

Aromatherapy is relatively safe. But it is important to realize that you should NEVER ingest or swallow the essential oils. In addition, you may have some essential oils that can burn the skin. If you do have chronic conditions or illnesses, it is best advised to consult your physician before starting any form of aromatherapy.

When combining conventional medicine and alternative therapy, you should always consult a physician. Many of alternative therapies and modern medicine will clash with detrimental affects.

For instance, juniper, sage, and rosemary should not be used by pregnant women because they can cause uterine contractions. If in doubt, ask your physician or find a homeopathic doctor in your region.

Knowing your Aromatherapy

Few things are as popular these days as alternative therapies for what ails us. Whether fighting the common cold or looking to battle cancer, more and more individuals are choosing alternative means of treatment. Aromatherapy just happens to be one of those “alternative therapies” that more people find work with their hectic lifestyle.

Imagine getting relief from burning a candle for your depression rather than taking the popular anti-depressants on the market today. Hmm, weigh the benefits of natural smells versus chemicals, and passive techniques versus aggressive measures. Aromatherapy is popular and for very good reason.

Kelly’s Health understands that you have questions. The good news is that Kelly’s Health LOVES questions!

When you need answers concerning your aromatherapy, essential oils, beauty products, or other types of alternative therapies, Kelly’s Health wants to keep you informed. While we are not medical professionals, we are a caring bunch of people who understand firsthand the need for education on the aromatherapy techniques and information available today.

What is great about the internet is that it is chalked full of information. But that can be confusing. There are so many ideas and opinions that finding the truth can be difficult.

When you do find conflicting information, remember, the line between right and wrong can be all a matter of opinion. Maybe lavender essential oil didn’t work for one person, but that does NOT necessarily mean it will not work for you.

Maybe lavender does nothing for you – personal experience. You may find that vanilla or orange essence may do even more than it does for others. Aromatherapy and essential oils have a lot to do with body chemistry.

So remember the next time you are thinking of trying a new essential oil… what works for one person is not going to work for everyone. But that does not mean your solution is not out there.

Looking Good: Beauty & Health

Few things are as tradition for a woman, and a growing number of men, than waking up an hour or so earlier than usual just to apply a nice coating of make-up or other types of cosmetics. Many people have it wrong when they say cosmetics are just to look good for other people. The truth of the matter is that, often, cosmetics and make-up allow us to look better for ourselves.

Of course, our budget will often dictate the brand of cosmetics we purchase… but sometimes, you just have to throw caution to the wind and buy what works best for you and your particular body. No one brand of make-up or other beauty and health products will work for everyone.

Imagine having the cosmetics that the movie stars and models use… what could you do? What would you look like?

Of course, knowing how to apply those cosmetics or health or beauty supplies is a big part of the whole picture. If you do not know how to apply that gorgeously perfect foundation, you will not be getting the most benefit from your purchase.

Looking good starts with knowing what is right for you!

Do you need organic? Natural? Quality? Whatever you need, Kelly’s Health has the answer you need to allow your budget and your healthcare and beauty supplies to mesh. No more struggling to find the best cost.

Halloween Make-Up Tips

Happy Halloween! Time for all those ghouls, ghosts, and witches to make their yearly debut. But whether you are dressing yourself or a child, there are a few safety tips you should keep in mind to avoid possible injury.

A – Always perform a skin test when using make-up to ensure that the skin is compatible. This can be done the day before or a few hours before the main application. Use a small area on the arm or leg for best results. If there is any adverse reactions… do NOT use that particular make-up.

B – Avoid the flames when it comes to cosmetics or baby powder. Cosmetics and baby powder are extremely flammable as is hair spray. If you are dressing up or already dressed up, avoid open flames such as candles or cigarettes or lighters.

C – Do not mix cosmetics… Even if you find that two or more of the cosmetic labels you want to use are tested safe on your skin, there is no guarantee that the make-up used is safe when applied together. Make-up companies may use a variety of chemicals that are safe unless mixed together.

D – Apply layers one layer at a time allowing each layer to dry thoroughly between applications. If you want to hasten the process significantly, try using a blow dryer set on cool to help dry each layer quickly.

E – Use fresh make-up. Each year should see a new purchase of make-up if you are applying make-up. Old make-up goes rancid which can cause reactions to the skin. Toss out that old make-up at the end of the year just to be on the safe side.

F- Never assume that because you could use one make-up brand last year that it is “ok” this year. Test!

From Kelly’s Health, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Enjoy this special night and remember to always play it safe.

3 Beauty Tricks for a Beautiful Body

When it comes to cosmetics, perfumes, and other types of beauty supplies, you will find that Kelly’s Health offers a natural, wonderfully original solution for your needs. However, there are things you can do at home that will improve the quality of your life while you look radiantly beautiful. More importantly, you will find some things just make you feel better.

Take a look at these 3 beauty tricks that can easily improve your quality of life without even leaving the home…

1 – Carrot Facial Mask… a face mask can make just about anyone feel amazing. The skin comes to life and receives the nutrients it needs to work with you. For a wonderful carrot facial mask, cook 2-3 large carrots until soft. Mash the carrots thoroughly and add 4 tablespoons of honey. Apply the facial to your wet skin and allow to set for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water for a wonderfully refreshing new look and feel.

2 – Whiten Your Nails… If you have discolored fingernails or toenails, you will find that it is easy to whiten the nails. Scrub your nails with a whitening toothpaste. Yes, it is that easy. This process may take time. You should purchase a new toothbrush for this to ensure you do not spread germs or debris to your mouth.

3 – Exfoliate… Sea salt is absolutely wonderful when you want to remove dead, flaky skin. All you need to do is wet the body part (even the face) and apply a couple tablespoon of sea salt to a wet washrag. Gently rub the area with the treated washcloth avoiding the eye area. Leave on for a couple minutes and rinse with cool water. This is SO easy! This should only be done once a week to avoid over treating the skin.

Many people wash with an anti-bacterial soap, but for me, a good, old-fashioned soap works just fine. Just get washing!
